Dear Sir,

Kindly refer to your letter no. RTI/2010-EMS/641 dated 1 May 2010 which said "By attaching a device called the 'decoder' to the EVM a statement of voting data showing the order in which the voters voted and to whom they voted may be printed." With regard to this please inform me the following

1. Would it be accurate to conclude from the response, that the Electronic Voting Machines provides less protection to the anonymity of the voter than the system with paper ballots we used earlier?

2. If the answer to 1 is yes, did the Election Commission, or any of the committees or experts appointed by it, examine any alternatives to the EVM, that do not sacrifice voter anonymity in this way? If yes, copies of any reports or findings may please be furnished to me.

Pleas find enclosed an Indian Postal Order No. 84E 146675 dated 4-11-2010 of Rs. 10 in favor of Accounts Officer, Election commission of India, PO- Narvachan Sadan, New Delhi towards the Right to Information Application Fees.
