| With regard to the plan of establishing Common Service Centers in rural
India, please provide me the following information related to disable
friendly initiatives planned and implemented in the Common Service
Centers, for the motor disabled, visually disabled and mentally
challenged.
| Reference your request/application dated 18-08-2009 on the above subject. The para-wise information us as under:-
| A. In the state of Punjab and Jharkhand where the CSC
Report of June 2009 shows 100% roll out,
1. Please inform me,
what is the total number of centers in the two state?
2. What
number of persons with disabilities have utilized services of these CSC
in the year 2009 till June. Please provide details on persons with
locomotor disability, visual disability, mental challenges and
illiterate.
3. What number of these centers are accessible to
persons on wheelchairs. Please provide figures for the current year up
to June 2009.
4. Does these Center have Screen readers for the
visually disabled and the illiterate. If yes, please provide details of
what screen reader is being used and in what language. Also inform the
number of centers are having screen readers.
5. What number of
persons with visual disability have utilized the services of the CSC
through these screen readers in the year 2009 till June.
6. What is
the budgetary implications of 1 CSC?
7. What part of the budget is
diverted towards enabling information access by the disabled? Please
provide a disability wise break-up.
| A. In the state of Punjab and Jharkhand where the CSC
Report of June 2009 shows 100% roll out,
1. The Department of Information technology has approved setting up of 2112 centers in Punjab, however, implementation is to be started by the State Government. For Jharkhand, 4562 centers were sanctioned as per report submitted by National Level Service Agency (NLSA), 4554 centers have been made operational.
2. The information pertains to State Government as such, the same may be obtained from the State. The address of the State designated agency for t6he CSC is: Jharkhand Agency for Promotion of Information Technology, Ground Floor, Engineers Hostel- II, Dhurwa, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
