On 13 February 2012, we sent an RTI to the PMO, asking
- who in the Government of India is responsible for protection of the country from cyber attacks and for their investigations,
- how can a citizen of India interact with the investigation team.
- And who in the Government of India is responsible to register FIRs from citizens about cyber crime against citizens and institutions of this country.

The query was forwarded to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) vide letter no. RTI/695/2012-PMR dated 16 February 2012. The Department forwarded the query to the Ministry of Home Affairs vide letter dated 28-02-2012. This was forwarded by the Ministry to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology vide letter no. 20034/35/2011-IS.II dated 13-03-2012. This time to the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (Hq.), which informed vide letter no. 14(55)/2012-ESD dated 03-04-2012 informed that "Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In) is Nodal Agency in the country to receive and analyse cyber security incidents. Cert-In analyses the reported incidents and prov ides technical advisory to the reported parties for taking further steps for mitigation of such attacks in future......"
