Requests for meeting with officials and Ministers in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology

  • On 13 April 2009, following a discussion with Sr. Director & Scientist 'G', CERT-In, a curriculum on digital security of computer systems in India at http://security.ngoinabox.org/ was shared. On 29 November 2010 we met him to discuss about matters related to cyber security.
  • Sent a letter dated 25-01-2011 to Mr. Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology with subject "stealing of confidential Indian documents by Chinese hackers 2009/10", received by the Ministry on 28-01-2011. In this letter it was explained that the seriousness of the matter and requested a meeting to discuss the matter in greater detail. We offered to describe the solution. An appointment was not given.
  • After this, we sent letter dated 03-03-2011, received on 07-03-2011, to Mr. Kapil Sibal, Minister of Human Resources Development and Communications and Information Technology with subject "stealing of confidential Indian documents by Chinese hackers 2009/10" explaining the seriousness of the matter and seeking an appointment. We proposed making a presentation on this matter, including what can be done to plug the security holes using free software. No appointment appointment was given.
Request for meeting with Defence Minister
  • We posted letter dated 26 May 2011 to Honorable Defence Minister, Mr. A.K. Antony with a request to investigate the matter and personal meeting to make "a presentation explaining this matter in greater detail". On 07-06-2011, we were told to submit a letter by hand, to which we complied on the same day, delivering the letter at 04.40 pm. We were told by Mr. Iyer from the Ministry on 09-06-2011 over the telephone that there is no need for a meeting and letter has been forwarded to the concerned department.
